6 Simple Changes To A Healthy Lifestyle

Losing weight, gaining muscle, feeling better....it's not about a specific meal plan or workout program. You don’t need expensive workout equipment, or even a gym membership. You don’t need guilt or stress. Just simple changes that you can incorporate into your life one at a time. Once you feel the difference, it becomes habit!

1. Water, water, water!

Drink at least half of your body weight in ounces of water. There are like a million great reasons you need to drink more water: see for yourself!

2. Eat your greens!

Eat mostly food that comes from the earth. If it comes in a box or it has a gazillion ingredients or ingredients that you can't pronounce, it's probably making you feel like crap.

3. Work it!

Move your body for 30 minutes a day, 5-6 days per week. Find an exercise that you enjoy and look forward to.

4. Zzzzz!

Aim for at least 7 hours of sleep per night. Sleep is just as important as water. There is a lot of research on hormones and other scientific stuff...basically, they all say we need to sleep more than we are. So put your phone away and shut your eyes!

5. Chill out, girl!

Find a way to reduce stress. I know, I know, easier said than done. Look, you're talking to a woman with 4 children...all girls..who also hangs out with 7-year-olds for a living. All while trying to manage finances, housework, a marriage, friendships, etc. etc. etc. But we all know the saying, "You can't pour from an empty cup." Ladies, we HAVE TO take care of ourselves. Maybe it's not pedicures and blow outs (at least, not for me). Maybe it's a workout, a long walk, reading, dinner with friends...get back to doing something you did when you weren't stressed out.

6. Just say yes!

I'm not a fan of dieting and restrictions. I'm in the "enjoy a treat because..life" camp. Enjoy a treat every now and then. Restricting will only make you want it more, causing you to overeat. I'm not saying eat cookies every night. I'm saying, have a cupcake on your daughter's birthday and move on. Have 1 piece of super cheesy pizza, not 4 pieces.
